| | Sample Schedule:
|
| | Day 1 in Romania: When
you arrive at the airport in Romania, you will be welcomed by our
friendly staff. We will give a quick call home to confirm your safe
arrival and then begin the journey over the stunning Carpathian
mountains to our first stop - Homorodalmas. Here we will have a
delicious welcome dinner and meet your host family. | | Day 2: After
breakfast with your host family, you will join the group for a morning
walk through the village to Agora’s training headquarters. The day
will kick off with introductions and a low ropes course to help you get
to know the group. In the afternoon we will talk with local youth,
leaders and families about village life, traditions and discuss
potential community projects. |

| Days 3-7: Most
of your first week will be spent learning about environmentally focused
rural development
through a hands-on community project. A normal day involves working on
our projects in the morning and early afternoon then spending the late
afternoon exploring the region. We will have excursions to
UNESCO Fortified Churches (where they still dry bacon in the walls),
hiking, horse or bike riding, and
traditional arts or cooking workshops.
Please note - this is not a
standard 'tour-on-a-bus' - you will be encouraged to spend free time
with your homestay family sharing your culture and learning about
theirs, or simply relax in this amazingly pristine environment.
|

| Day 8 - 11: For the second half of the Experience we journey
to the region’s most spectacular park, the Vagyas Gorge nature
reserve. Here we’ll work on a different kind of sustainable
development project (build a bridge, clear a new trail, or help build a
traditional spa over a mineral water spring) while exploring the caves,
valleys and forest of this very special area. Spend free time as you
please - exploring, gathering wild edibles with a local expert,
‘batting’ to help survey local bat populations, or learn how to sheer a
sheep. |

| Day 12-13: Your
last night with your host family will be celebrated with a community
wide, traditional barbeque. The next morning, we’ll head out on a final
tour of the region. Visit the real Dracula’s home, beautiful
Sighisoara (the oldest continually inhabited medieval city in Europe)
and cross the Transylvanian Alps on the incredible trans-Fogaras
highway.
Day 14-15: We’ll
end in Bucharest and tour historical sites like the Casa Popului, the
world's second largest building. Finally, you’ll be accompanied to the
airport where we’ll say goodbye for now as you head for home.
