What to Bring:

This list should help get you started.  We will send you a more complete list mid-summer and feel free to contact us in the meantime with any questions.


  • Comfortable shoes (hiking boots, sandals, etc…)
  • Summer clothes and a good hat
  • A pair of pants you can get dirty
  • One nicer outfit for meeting officials and travelling
  • Something warm for the evenings
  • A camera (digital or film)
  • A good backpack (most people bring a day pack and a suitcase/duffle bag for clothes)
  • Sleeping bag for camp outs
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Current passport (no need for a visa)
  • Spending money (tip: dollars are easier to change than travelers checks)
  • Sunscreen, bug spray and medications
  • Gift for your host family (something small like a picture book or coffee)




And of course your interest in adventure and excitement!
